We love Lynda Hallinan - she lives up the road - pops into store always with a tale to tell and a laugh to have. We also love her books -Foggydale Farm Jam Sessions is a 50:50 mix of growing and harvesting advice… and recipes for preserving all your homegrown harvests in homemade jams, jellies, compotes & chutneys, just like my Nanas used to make.
I have just whipped up a batch of the Fig and Port Jam featured in this book.We are not big jam eaters in my family anymore but this was just delicious so its back to toast with posh jam for breakfast.
I am also going to use this as the topping for a cheesecake - delicious and though it a fab topping warm over ice cream. In fact as soon as I finished cooking the jam I whipped out to buy ice cream just so I could pour some warm jam over it for afternoon tea!!!! Decadent I know but preserving your produce really brings out my decadent best.
A gardeners and cooks companion that is beautifully produced and a joy to read as well as cook from.
